A Brand New Refresh for an Established Private Equity Firm
Paine Schwartz Partners is a leading private equity firm that specializes in sustainable food chain investing. With over $3.5 billion invested across 31 platform companies, the firm has earned a reputation for value creation and leadership in its target industry.
In 2016, a series of exciting portfolio additions realized the need for a modernization of the Paine Schwartz brand and led to a complete rebranding effort through both the company’s website and its outward-facing materials, such as investor presentations, corporate stationery, and bespoke logo variations, font types, and color palettes.
Research and analysis prior to production of external-facing deliverables is a critical element of the Darien Group process. With Paine Schwartz, we ran interviews and then strategy sessions to present initial creative ideas.
From there, we identified visual brand and positioning directions that align with Paine Schwartz’s personality and business goals and proposed messaging tactics to help the firm stake its claim as the world’s preeminent private equity investor in the food and agribusiness sector.
We recognized the importance of bringing the agriculture-based end products of Paine Schwartz’s portfolio companies to the forefront of all branding materials.
Through the utilization of highly saturated colors, emotionally vivid imagery, and aesthetically appealing layouts, we implemented dramatic imagery and engaging content to support Paine Schwartz’s status as a trustworthy partner with a record of industry-leading transactions.
The reworking of the firm’s logo displays a twofold perspective. While the mark illustrates wheat sheaves representative of the firm’s focus on and commitment to agribusiness, it also recalls the fletchings on an arrow, connoting continuity, direction, and accuracy.
Paine Schwartz’s new website is built with a user experience tailored to next-generation constituents as well as long-time investors, all while promoting a sophisticated online presence.
These key ideas converge to create an easily navigable, image-centric website that illustrates the firm’s key pillars in digestible bursts of sans serif copy and a clearly sectioned navigation bar allowing facile movement between pages.
For the past three Sustainability Reports, Darien Group works in lockstep with Paine Schwartz partners’ third-party ESG consultancy to gather portfolio companies’ quantitative and qualitative reporting and visualize those metrics into infographics, illustrations, and other exhibits.
